I never understood this and hear it on phone and online dating services. They make it obvious when they say things like-"if you are looking for something sexual then skip my ad"
It gives off the message-"I may have been tricked the first time but it won't happen again." And as a guy why would I want to meet you?
Here an example of five ads I read today which is so obvious they were victim of the hit and split
1. "I'm defintely not here for a one night stand"
2. "Not looking for someone who is looking for different sexual partners"
3. "If you are just interested in hooking up I'm not into that"
4. "If you are looking for someone to get in and get out with then don't bother
5. "I also don't want a friend with benefits"
Ladies if you been used in the past us guys don't need to know. KEEP IT A SECRET!!-LOL

Probably too expensive for him. He always ends up back at square one whichever new avenue he sorties down.
As far as the ads go, Grasshopper, what IS the big deal. You complain if someone isn't specific and you complain when someone is.
You "never understand" way too much in life. Get out in the fresh air and do what normal people do instead of sitting on your bum in front of the computer for hours on end.
Maybe because there are a LOT of people trolling the dating sites looking for one night stands? Perhaps those women simply don't want to be contacted by people who are only looking for a sexual relationship. I think it's good that they are up front about wanting someone who will be around the next morning.
i agree with jetjockey. while they may or may not have had a "hit and split" as you call it, they are simply being honest about what they are looking for.
weeding out people on online dating can be done easily and save everyone involved wasted time if everyone just says what they want.
as a female, if i'm looking at a guys profile and he says "looking for female under 5'5" " i'm not going to reply, b/c it doesn't apply to me. similarly, if i'm looking for a LTR i'm not going to reply to a man who says he's looking for something sexual.
being honest about wants, needs, etc is just better for everyone involved.
Here's an experiment for you. Now I want you to relax and let your mind wander, but whatever you do, don't think visualize a pink elephant.
