I hate the term but it's what is used.

Anyway, I am in the process of building a social forum for gifted adults. If you understand the reason for it, you just might be interested.

Anyway, check it out and don't be afraid to sign up and jump right in. The site is in its infancy so don't be dissuaded by the lack of members.

Stupid guy posting here, so take it with a grain of salt.

I hate elitist crap like this......

Sometimes it's the people with the highest IQ's that are really lacking in basic common sense.

Special ed teacher here and I can tell you there's a good reason for that. It's because a very high IQ isn't normal, and therefore it's comorbid with a lot of other conditions such as learning disabilities and AD/HD. People with AD/HD often appear as if they don't have a lot of sense, but it's a different kind of sense and even the gifted ones often struggle in school b/c it's a hostile environment and it's reassuring for them to talk to someone who's had the same problems.

edub, how gifted do you have to be? I think I missed mensa by one point or so. Also, there is a similar forum out there: www.marilynvossavant.com :: Index I check in from time to time--it's not as elitist as you would think.

It's a cool idea and I wish you well.

But...don't "gifted" adults already kind of have ways to connect on the internets? (twitter, livejournal, gaming, school affiliations etc )

It's real life where things tend to get thorny.

the thing is "gifted" doesn't really mean your better at anything. Im sure its a diverse group. I think people tend to view such groups as elitist while members view themselves as alienated from everyone else so they like that bond. I guess a gifted forum would just be centered around that commonality.
