If you don't go straight to her apt and lay one right on her lips, romance novel style, then you've completely blown it buddy. If you had just put your arm around her in the car that night. . . oh the torture she must have gone thru.

I hope you realize that your her opinion of your confidence level sinks every time you pass up an opportunity to jump her bones. She is practically giving you and engraved invitation and you clearly lack the confidence to take advantage of it. I can't imagine she will respond well at this point.
Next time a girl drops hints like that, you need to cease the opportunity. Girls want an alpha male who shows confidence and takes charge, not one who is afraid of rejection and afraid to pull the trigger.

Gotta agree with this one and I'm a woman. She had the flags waving all over the place and you keep dropping the ball. Your window of opportunity is about to shut forever if it hasn't already and it won't make for a good work relationship, I'm sorry to say.
You are kidding me right? At what time did you start flirting back? At what part of the trip did you ask her out? When did you give her a kiss? At what time did you do anything to persue her back? This girl let you know of her interest in you and you take her back to her place and drop her off. You want to know why she said not to be a stranger? She did it because after all that you are not interested in her. If you are interested you did nothing to lead her to believe that you are interested. Women want to hear it from your lips. They want you to say that you are interested. They want action. The only person offering any action was her. I know you allowed her to rub up against you in the car. Did you ever tell her that you like that? Did you ever put your arm around her and pull her close to you? I am not reading that in your post. What a wated opportunity. Do you expect her to do all the work for you? I bet at this point she is home thinking that she did everything she could to get you interested and it didn't work.
Stop thinking about it and start acting upon it. Call her, visit her, do what ever you have to do, but ask her out. I mean if you were not interested you would not have asked all of us about her.
Have a few drinks with her, then, when she least expects it, grab her & ram your tongue down her throat. You'll find out in about 1/10th of a second, then you won't have to ask HERE anymore!!

ugh better to give her soft teasing kiss (kisses) not too wet, not too dry and explore her lips with yours while your hands explore every curve and make her bubble with anticipation as it progresses.

PSI - . thats probably the best advice i've ever received lol. but thanks to everyone. yes i have a HORRIBLE habit of over analyzing every little thing. that quality has served me well in my professional life but sadly not so much in this situation. more than likely in the immediate future i'm just lay the cards down and see what happens. worse case scenario is she tells all the female swimmers next year i'm a bad kisser .

Then don't be a bad kisser, be one that makes her quiver and score with her. Do not be a forceful ramming kisser like suggested up above. You want her, she made abundantly clear she wants you, now take charge and realize the fantasy.
Personally I don't know how you controlled yourself with her rubbing her leg up and down yours, I would have had to pull the car over right then and there and make her know that what is, is.
I think most of us guys have a memory of "woulda, coulda, shoulda" and want to slap ourselves when we think about that lost opportunity because we hesitated with unsure signals but man, she is broadcasting loud and clear.
You are on the verge of being looked at as a undecisive unconfident unworthy dummy by her.
