I've heard several women use this as a reason why they prefer older men: they complain that the men their age are all immature and childish. Um, for a start they probably just mix with a rather narrow cachet of men (you know the type ), or they have a rather strange view of 'maturity.' Maybe, to them, actually being able to goof off or make fun of yourself/others in a friendly way is being 'immature.' What's worse is some of these women aren't exactly all that 'mature' themselves. Just because a woman CLAIMS to say, not enjoy video games, that doesn't make her 'mature' or 'grown up', it makes her a prudish stiff.

Anyway, why is it men are often accused of being 'immature' by many women? And do you think they might really be saying something else? Like, that they don't go for younger guys because they're not financially productive or something like that? Also I think young women can be just as 'immature' and sometimes more so. Yeah, giggling at absolutely nothing, throwing a tantrum because you can't get your way, that's how an mature adult acts?

1) Go to library, get book: Why men don't have a clue and Women always need more shoes
2) read book
3) report back here

They are in fact more mature, but it's something you can correct with little effort and even the playing field IN THE WAR AGAINST THEM!

Hey, I'm 40, and I play video games. I beta-tested for Sims 3 at Electronic Arts!

There are young guys and girls who are immature, and there are others who are quite mature. There are guys my age who act like frat boys, and others who act like they're 70. And the ones I get along with best, are the ones who haven't let go of their "inner child", but have found that balance, regardless of age. There's a big difference between being "child-like" and "childish".

It's all in the mind. You can be mature and still play video games (just using your example). I do!

The former part is a bit questionable...

LMAO! The reason I haven't been on much lately is because I'm rocking old school with Sims 1. I have Sims 3, courtesy the SO, but it doesn't agree with my computer much. It just takes forever to load and save, so I play 1 as an admin.

P.S. Why, yes, I'm a deviant. However did you guess? I'm about to wall Sarah Palin up. MUAH HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Ah, yes...I remember Sims 1. I did an article about that - a trip down memory lane. Sims 2 is my game, though! I felt like such a traitor once that NDA was lifted and I could express how I REALLY felt about Sims 3. I'm also the Sims Community Examiner, though, so I have to keep it neutral there. But all my machinima is made with Sims 2, while Sims 3 is sitting on my shelf, collecting dust! Bad me, bad!!!

I think you are using maturity as a misnomer.

What younger women crave is financial, social and cultural experience. This is not to be confused with 'maturity' on an individial level, as the former three do not explicitly denote any sort of ethical or moral responsibility that an honorable husband-like man might exude.

Don't let their confusion be your own. As women mature, they come to understand that the principles of family supersede their own naive selfish passion. Whether they look for that man at 20 or 40, depends on the girl... and there are plenty out there to pick in the mean time.
