- How do you feel when your wife earns more than you? I'll be very proud of my fiancee if she makes more than me

I make more than my husband. Currently he's a stay-at-home, so it makes sense... but even when he was working, I made more money. He's never had a problem with it and I suspect he enjoys staying at home with our daughter more than working his butt off.

It really depends on the personalities of both people. As long as the woman doesn't hold it over the man, and the man is comfortable and doesn't feel emasculated it shouldnt really matter as long as its not a huge difference. If the wife is making several hundred thousand and the man is making 30k then i dunno lol

My wife is an attorney and I am a Social Worker. Do the math.

Works for me. For one, I am not defined by my job or my possessions. Secondly in our relationship we don't have the concept of my income and her income, it is our income. We have one checking account and one savings (cash reserve) account. Both names on each account. Our IRAs are seperate, but that's defined by the tax laws.

I feel sorry for guys who are bothered if their wife makes more than they do. Get over it I saw and enjoy the financial benefit.

I'd be interested to know how men feel about this. I make double what my husband does. I'm not sure how he really feels about it.

yea one checking account is good. when the wife wants to buy something extravagant and the husband disagrees... there should still be a concept of "our" money and fighting fair. as long as the woman doesn't say "well i put more money into this account than you do, i work harder blah blah blah so that is why i should buy this ridiculous pink designer purse"

made of some poor animal's skin, might i add.

Well, given that I pretty much work based on fee income from clients, I only earn what I manage to kill. So some years (Like this one), I'm way outearning my wife. Last year, however, my wife outearned me. It's never been a contest between the two of us, because neither one of us is insecure.

Funny, however, because the money all goes into the same place. One checking account. And we know how the money gets spent.

To me, if you are really upset by your wife earning more than you, then you need to get a grip.

I dont know...I make more than my husband...even when he was working...but with him not working its very depressing being the breadwinner.

I really cant help but to feel this way.
