The New York Times recently reported that two out of three second marriages fail. Although it's been no secret for years that second marriages fail more than first marriages, hearing the statistics again is always troublesome and puzzling.

My first husband was a good guy, but we had very different backgrounds, beliefs, etc. Also, he was a very stoic, some might even say cold, type of a person - rarely showed in PDA.
When we got divorced, my second husband was 180 degrees opposite of my first husband. But alas, TOO MUCH in the other direction!
I think in some cases, people are just trying to get a handle on what works for them and they don't get it right until the third try. At least that's what happened with me. Maybe some people have to keep trying four or five times until they figure it out.
Disclaimer: I don't have kids. If I did, I might have done things very differently.
Neither do I, personally! I've been married once. I'm not sure I ever want to go for #2. But if I tried it again and it blew, then no way would I do it again!

I was married once. I would be willing to do it again. I am going to be more careful this time around.
Maybe some people don't learn from their first mistakes?
Not the case here. Current marriage - 2nd one - has lasted almost 28 years.
