Yes. I've actually met dozens of people from dating sites and/or internet communities/groups over the past decade. Overall good experiences. Many are still my friends (actually, two of my best friends, since moving to Ohio 10 years ago, are women who I originally knew on-line). Thinking in terms of friends is a key for me. Anything beyond friendship is great, but never expected or required. Portraying myself openly and honestly is also important for me. I don't have time to waste getting to know people who won't appreciate my quirky, philosophical approach to life.
I tried Yahoo personals once, a very long time ago. Needless to say, I've never done online dating after that.
I never got a Myspace or a Facebook page so I don't know how dating would work on those sites. I know some people who have met their dates on social networking sites, though, and they seem to enjoy doing that kinda thing. I'd rather just unexpectedly meet someone instead of TRYING to meet them, however.
Yep me an my significant other met online, we've never met in real life (yet) and we've been in a relationship for a little over a year... my ex before was an online relationship as well through facebook/okcupid, that relationship didn't last as long though...
I tried craigslist a while back (dang...it's been 4 years already). Both girls flaked when we were supposed to meet.
I don't add anyone I don't know on facebook, so that's out the door.
But you'll meet creepy strangers on Craigslist?? I would think Facebook is a lot safer than that.
