The only thing I've had to buy in the past 20 years is shoes.
Everything else is still perfectly serviceable. What are you doing to your clothes that makes them unfit to wear?
Does work provide you with a uniform? And if all your bought clothing is lasting for 20 years (is that including your socks and underwear? ), then you obviously are not a very active person. But wait, all you do at night is sit at home playing cards and other board games, and watch tv.
Another reason that clothing wears out eventually is from the washing of them... haven't you ever wondered where the lint comes from in dryer lint traps?

I don't use a dryer.
My job's pretty active, but I just wear jeans and T-shirts to work. I guess I'm just lucky enough to have gotten quality made clothing, instead of buying it from China.

You don't think those jeans and T-shirts aren't from China?

You told me that you shop at Goodwill, and that you bought some clothes there several years ago because you had lost almost everything you owned. I think you are exaggerating about the 20 years. We know you're frugal, but come on.

it's very possible that my wife spends more money per year on clothing than you make in a year. possibly.
