I live in the South and generally find women with an accent to be attractive. I think it would be very dull if everyone spoke exactly the same way. I've also noticed a wide variety of Southern accents that seem to convey a different cultural or even educational background though. Certain Southern accents sound rather refined and even sophisticated while others who use poor grammer and slang don't make a very good impression on me. It varies from state to state in the South and that extends all the way to Texas and Oklahoma. I also think it's odd that some people who have lived in the South all of their lives have an accent that you can barely detect while others living in the same area have very strong accents. I've noticed that among my neighbors.
Y'all be talkin bout them folks livin in dat trailer park down thar in the hollow there boy?
Yassir.
Of course, unattractive accents are pretty much universal. The most godawful accents in the world can be found in the working-class areas of the Northeast and the Great Lakes. Man, that's fingernails-down-the-blackboard kind of stuff.

Two words: Fran Drescher....if women in the South think their accent is the only one people find annoying, think again!
