Sorry to change the subject, you guys, but I was so worried about my cat. We adopted a stray kitten a few months ago, took her to the vet, got her all her shots, got her all cleaned up, etc. 8 a.m. Friday morning, she was her regular playful self. 11 a.m., she was behaving strangely, hiding under my bed and scrunching her face up so only one eye was peeking open at a time. She didn't want me to touch her or hold her, and she'd slink away and crawl under my bed again. Just the opposite of her normal self! She wouldn't eat or drink or use her litter box. I was really scared. I called the vet, who lives near me, and he stopped by to see her on his way home. He thought she may have eaten something indigestible, like string, which she loves to chase. He said that if she was the same or worse in the morning, he would give her X-rays and she might need surgery. She did improve a little by Saturday morning and drank a little water, and by Sunday she was almost okay. I don't know what was wrong. Her eyes are cloudy so she's on antibiotics now, but I was afraid on Friday night that she was going to die. She looked awful.
What a great vet! I don't think we have any here that would actually come to your house. It does sound like maybe she ate something not meant to be eaten....I hope she is okay.
My cat (she's gone now ) had a strange affliction (google "fabric eating cat"). I finally figured out it was the bleach in our white clothes. She ate holes in my son's sheets, socks, t-shirts, and underwear. I had to get a laundry basket that had a lid so that she couldn't get in and chew on the clothes. We couldn't leave ANYTHING on the floor. Once, she started chewing on a shoestring, and ended up swallowing the entire thing. I didn't know it at the time of course, it was after it was coming out the other end that I figured out what had happened. She was miserable and scared. I was able to extract the string (yeah gross I know) but I probably should have taken her to the vet. We were lucky!
Awwe what horror to go through. I walked into the kitchen and my dog was at the bowl and her eyes were not right they were huge glassy and the brightest blue in the world and I knew she wasn't right and I kept saying her name over and over with a question mark and picked her up and took her to the bedroom she was standing next to me while I dialed the phone and then just fell over and died in my lap in an instant. It was awful, the only thing I'm thankful for was she didn't suffer and I don't know what happen but shar-peis don't have long life spans and she was getting up there. My brother's dog before it passed, would hide under tables. I really hope kitty is okay.
Aw, that's sad, Thursday. I wonder ... did your pup have a stroke or embolism or something? That sounds so sudden, but you're right: at least it was quick. But how devastating for you.
Tabby is back to her bratty self, so if she ate something I think she finally digested it or whatever. I found some weird pink bits of stuff in my son's room, where she likes to nap in the morning sun and where she probably was right before I found her. They're almost like really tough, stale jerky, but pink like a plastic retainer. I am stumped as to what these little scraps are, but maybe she was gnawing on them.

What food does she eat? Because I was informed some time ago I might've killed our cat by switching to fancy food when she started shedding a lot. The food was supposed to make her fur shiny and healthy...
Chess, we had a dog that had a similar habit! He would rip out zippers, grommets, snaps, buttons, anything like that. Brand-new jackets, backpacks, jeans, anything we'd accidentally leave out. And stuffed animals ... he'd rip their eyes out. He just loved to tug on that kind of thing and tear, I guess. He drove us nuts. But what did you mean about bleach? Did she like its taste or something?
Our dog also swiped a thawing turkey out of the sink and buried it in the backyard.

Iams kitten chow. And what do you mean, you may have killed her? With food?
Depending on your major... If I were to look at your resume listing your degree with zero work experience I would likely throw your in the discard pile. If I hire someone I expect them to know how to work, and to have some skills sets to bring to the table. Something more than just book learning.
My department was hoping to get money and the plan was to hire 60 students. But that fell through, unfortunately. It's not my fault.
There's something I have in mind for over the summer. It would likely be volunteer work, but I would be doing it for the experience.
And I've already taken a class where I learned a skill.

I'm so sorry Julia. I hope she gets better.

Indeed, hence the importance of internships and such. I kinda want to work in federal law enforcement, or perhaps in intelligence. Basically either the FBI, NSA, CIA, or NCTC. Wouldn't mind something like FEMA either, but those first four are sort of my dreams.

Vintage fishing lures is another GREAT one. They can be found at old sporting good/hardware stores, estate and garage sales. They can bring big money and are easy/cheap to ship. Need a job while I'm at work Mr. younger computer man? Hahahaha I'll hook ya up! lol

Yeah, but internships are hard when you don't have a car to get to and from the job. I'm serious. My parents overlook this aspect, but it's true.
And everyone has to start somewhere, so it's discouraging for employers to disregard a resume just because someone lacks experience.
