Well, do I? I'm serving duck confit with a cherry/balsamic sauce, quinoa with broccoli rabe, and probably a frisee. This is kinda new for me (female, aged 40)... is cooking enough? I feel that it is, but would like to hear it if conventional wisdom reveals that I'm wrong.

it's the thought and the effort that counts

so, no. but if you see something nice, then buy it. if not, then don't.

i think cooking is way better than some gift that's bought with the effort of a credit card swipe

I think dinner is a great gift. My fiance made me some amazing seared tuna last night. I cooked up some kung pao chicken today. Neither of us swapped overpriced valentines day stuff; cooking and eating together made us both very happy.

Sounds fancy! That should be enough, and of course, a piece of ass!

I'm cooking, too, which will be much appreciated.

I'm not buying a gift, but I am making one, which will also be appreciated.

Toss in at least a card and you're good to go.

Thumbs up Excellent answers, people, thank you very much!

I've put in some time seriously thinking about what to cook for dinner, it isn't something I take lightly. (Especially since he has never tasted my cooking before.) I think I will take the suggestion of a card too, and choose a blank one so I will have to provide the words myself. Thanks all!
