Negatively or positively? Do you plan on staying friends with an ex for the long haul? What if you get serious with someone, but that person's not comfortable with the friendship between you and your ex?

The exes I still speak to I have known for over a decade ('95, '97, '98)...and there is no trouble between us...certainly nothing to do with dating other people. They are just good old friends now.

Hint, hint...THOSE are the exes you keep as friends.

This is why the old topic always in books and movies. My best friend, if we sleep together we can never be friends again.

It is just healthy to move on. We have all lost friends thru the years that just drop off our radar. Let them go. I have seen old girlfriends when out with my wife, a simple nod is enough. Give your current lover the respect and ignore the old.

I think it is difficult to stay friends with ur X and move forward in a new relationship. I know some do, but I have never been able to stay friends without the current insisting on me not having anything to do with the X.

when my wife and i were first dating she found out that 2 of the girls at work were ex-girlfriends on mine. she was not happy with it at all. but eventually she was fine with our being friends, even after both left working with me. she even is friends with one of them, and talks to her at least a couple times a month(no longer lives here but comes to town every few weeks.)

It has never been an issue or problem. In fact, a couple of my ex-g/f's have become good friends with my wife as well.
