Indeed, if he feels he wants to change his situation then he can do as you suggest. However, I think perspective is required. If one is unhappy with something in their life, they take steps to change it but I think it has to be put into perspective. By all means, he could just go for the women who are interested in him but as soon as he begins to equate rejection from women in relation to his self worth then he is losing all perspective in my opinion.
