I have noticed, not from my own experience but watching other couples and being exposed to friends. Most of the women attached to good men ( and by good I mean attentive, responsible, a good provider and loving husband) have taken them so much for granted to the point the they would do things that would jeopardize the relationship thinking they could get away with it and return to a forgiving husband.
So my question is are women getting too close for comfort as far as the boundaries of the relationship is concerned and taking the good husbands for granted?
My wife takes me for granted, but she wouldn't do anything to get away with something as the OP implies. She takes me for granted in ways like she will totally trash the house, knowing I will clean it up as soon as I get home; or she will over schedule herself and she knows I will help her get back on track; or she knows she will make a horrible decision and I won't get too upset, so she will continue to make horrible decisions. But then when something doesn't go perfectly her way, she spazes out on me....
I think it's common for men and women to take each other for granted if they've been together for a long time. One person does something nice for the other and because they've done it so many times before, the person on the receiving end no longer treats it like something special. The words Thank You can go a long way in a relationship. But the person who's taken for granted needs to accept responsibility. People don't treat you badly unless you let them.
Yes I have seen it with my own eyes and can't figure it out..
