Wasn't so bad as a kid, got worse as I entered middle school/JR. High. So like almost 20yrs. I'd keep everything bottled up and makes it hard for me to communicate. I want to tell this to my guy friend who treats me very well but don't know how he would react.
I'm like this with everyone barely saying a word

Seems like you need someone to talk to... if you can't say it face to face, perhaps over the phone or on the instant messenger...

I would think that you could just explain to him that you have a hard opening up, or communicating to people. It may be a good thing to tell him anyway, so he can understand you better.

If you say barely a word when you're with him, then I'm sure he knows already that you have trouble communicating. And if he's still there, then he must be okay with it? So the news shouldn't shock him...

And maybe if he sticks around long enough, you'll get comfortable enough to really talk to him?

Trying taking improv or art classes. They might help you express yourself through other outlets.
