They get you to walk on crutches from day 1 after the operation. Lots of physical therapy involved like walking in a warm pool, knee bending and going on the bike. I was walking a day after the operation. I took close to 9 months to get the fixators taken off.
So were you overseas this whole time?

How did you take time off from work?

Because they are too short? I didn't know there was a minimum height requirement to be a flight attendant.

Importer's Wife, my family was completely against the operation as were most of my friends. They simply did not want me to get it. My mother is fairly tall (5'8), my father short. My brother is 5'11, my other siblings were girls. No one understood. It was my choice to stay 5'6, deal with the constant jokes and ridicule, or free myself from all that by taking advantage of modern medicine. My life has done a complete 180 and if I had to do it all over again, I would've done it sooner.

There are places that do this in the U.S., but the costs are close to $100,000 and they won't go beyond 5cm.

Importer's Wife, I have an online parts business that generates $90K annually. I had a day job and got laid off and used this as my opportunity to leave overseas. The $1.5-$2K I made in weekly sales from my online business helped me stay afloat. This is definitely something you wouldn't consider if you didn't have the $$ and time.

Hey, people get plastic surgery ALL THE TIME in the US to improve thier dating and income prospects. Boob jobs, nose jobs, lifts etc etc etc.

Height, especially in males is well documented to have an impact socially.

Gratz to the OP, sounds like you made your own decision. Good luck.

Yes, I know we have had threads like this before, but I don't want to merge this one, which started on a reasonable tone, with any of those, which don't.

Russia would be the last place I'd go for an operation. When you are crippled or die, maybe they will give you $40k if you are lucky. If you make a fuss about it, they send someone to escort you back to the US.

I've been to the hospitals there. I hung out with some med students for a month and got tours. Not only are they backwards in so many ways, you will have zero rights. It's a very foolish thing to get an operation there.

Well this facility was just as good if not better than any facility in the U.S. Latest, state of the art equipment, thorough and friendly staff. At that facility, that's pretty much what they do and specialize in. I was in good hands. I was nervous going in, but happy I was there when I arrived.
