Well, the answer is different depending if you are talking a good marriage or a bad marrage - which one do you want a word for?

You can't describe it in one word. It is slightly more complex than that. The one world answer allows for people to read into it what they want.

First marriage: purgatory (not quite hell).

This marriage: nirvana. (Some alternates might include: bliss, rapture, joy, ecstasy, fulfillment, happiness, ... You get the idea.)

My word for marriage.............. secret.

To me, marriage is a secret. Our sex life is a secret, our finances is a secret, what we share about ourselves is a secret, what we discuss about the kids is a secret, our future plans are a secret...

And that's why I like my marriage so much. my wife & I share secrets between us and us alone. To me, it creates a sort of extra bond I don't share with anyone else.
