Well, there's more to it than just stepping out...but that's the first step, yes...
Bitter? Maybe.
Desperate? Almost never.
Lonely? Yes.

They don't beg...but they do ask...
I'm not complaining...
It's nice to be wanted...

No one has really explained why 'decency' only needs to go one way

Where in my post was I referring to another girl specifically? I don't think I was. I know plenty of females with this mindset, though.

I have far too much self respect for myself than to allow a man to pay for our dates any more than the first date or two. The only exception is if the person I am seeing makes significantly more money than me and would prefer to go on higher rent dates - but that only happens after a discussion.

My current system is that I pay for every other date - and I try to make as many of my dates really good home cooked meals and exciting but free things to do.

Exactly!

Clue: There is no logical explanation.

You should never pay for a date without admitting you're setting a precedent for the entire relationship. If you want a 50.50 relationship, make it clear from date one. Otherwise, expect to pay.

Yes. He should still pay. This isn't about being a gold-digger or getting a free meal. I'm old fashioned and feel a man should "court" the woman.

As has been asked repeatedly and answered never, WHY should the man 'court' the woman?

To show that he's serious about her.
