Well, first off, the ponytail means nothing whatsoever as far as I'm concerned. I'd be more concerned with behavior and various cues than how he wears his hair. If his pupils are as big as olives he's probably stoned or if he seems just a little bit too euphoric for no particular reason I would wonder why. Also, if he seems overly withdrawn it might be because he isn't stoned and his body is craving more drugs. Every single person I've known who had a drug problem (and unfortunately I've known quite a few including those who are now dead) all exhibited unusual behavior that can easily be detected if you've been around that sort of thing. I've never had a drug problem but as a musician I've known many who have and depending on how serious their dependency has become it's going to influence their moods, behavior, and every aspect of their personality to a certain extent. If you've just met someone I'd give them the benefit of the doubt but if there's a problem it won't take long before you realize what you're dealing with.
