Yeah, everyone is going to be a little different in needs so you have to use a plan which meets them and makes the best financial sense. The only thing I think that is universal is that everyone should get their own. Makes life easier in about every way. With AT&T there are a number of things you can do to monitor your kids. More things than I think parents should and in fact downright invasive and a breach of trust but that is my own opinion. We did not avail ourselves of these things but they are there with any provider I imagine. This isn't a shot, we monitored ours kids online activity somewhat and it is reasonable that a loving parent will have a concern. I just think there should be some right to privacy, even for kids.
Oh I agree about the right to privacy.
We have a "kids" computer and they can do what they want on there (within reason, no blood and guts and shoot-them-up games) but they are not allowed to use it outside of the family living areas. They mostly just do homework and play games on it anyway.
The boys have an e-mail address they share (by choice) but I won't allow a facebook account for any of them.
I do wish I would have signed on for the feature where you can track where your child is with their phone. Not so much to figure out where they are (I always know where they are) but to find the dang phones when they go missing! Usually we find them in the neighbors yard or mailbox or at another friends house..etc.
I didn't manage my money very well and ran out by Tuesday last week (or maybe Wed). I did have about $50 left in my account but that was for emergency use only.
My account was replenished on Friday but I haven't been home much at all...kids and activities and sports. I think I have time after 5:30 tomorrow...lol

Didn't manage your money well? I'll say! You could have saved on non-essentials like food, power bill, school supplies, etc. Plus if out of wine isn't an emergency what is?
