I dated a guy that was convinced that he was a very caring thoughtful person but he is in actually very selfish, self absorbed individual and self interested only. Everything that he does that appears as a kind gesture has a different motivation. He does things for others because it makes him look good and pleases him. In addition he was a people builder( he takes women and molds them into who he would have them to be ie the values he would like them to have and how he would like them to dress)very controlling in subtle ways. This is my first encounter with this type of individual and I just need some feedback if you have encountered people like this.... Thanks

It sounds like you are describing someone with a severe Narcisistic Personality Disorder.

A narcisist (especially a severe one) does everything for their own end and purpose. They feign emotion and caring for others, to manipulate them into giving them what they want. Once they cannot get anymore from an individual, they kick them to the curb without a second thought and move on.

They are nobody to get into a relationship with!

I totally agree that this person you describe is a Narcissist. I was married to one for 20 years -- trust me, you should get as far away as you possibly can!

I knew a gal who had a gay sister and another one that worked in the Adult film industry. She always proffesed how open minded she was and I figured she must be with her two sisters. She went nuts talking about how discusting a cross dresser was who was in line at a super market one day. I guess she was only open minded when it came to her family!

False reality, a projection of what one imagines themselves to be, not really who they actually are.

Translated...a manipulative con artist.
