Still better than lighting the rest of it on fire which is what you will be doing. No matter how you slice it leasing it brings money in, leaving it lay does nothing but cost you. I know you have grief over the move and that grief is is understandable considering the situation but unless you have some realistic expectation of use this is like kicking yourself in the balls to make up for someone punching you in the nose.
I have to agree with Crabbie here....and you really do need to take the emotion out of it.
If it were my place and I wanted to keep it, I'd lease it out. You can hire a property management company to do all the work for you if you feel like you'd be in over your head with the legalities.
You might save a bit too. A quick search resulted in this link:

Well put; but the reason behind this logic would for it to be a buffer in case we wanted to move back after meeting the one year obligation. This way we wouldn't have the hassle of getting someone out of this place. However this may be my preferred scenario, in reality it's not feasible.

You could dig a little deeper but that might be the way to go.
Property managers will want a cut, depending on that amount I will be pulling more out of my pocket. At this rate we have already approached paying half the mortgage out of my pocket.
Lol. I'm having cheese and English walnuts. Along with a few grapes
