Intriguing...thx for your thoughts sierra...

Everything else was much harder, much louder Hot AC / hip-hop / rap.

Why is this always the case? I have wondered about this for the longest time...is it b/c slow dances are simply considered "uncool" or "unhip"? Not trying to ask a "dumb" question here...honestly just curious as to why...

(I actually prefer slow dances to "fast" dances...much more romantic, to slow-dance in your sweetie's arms! )
Man I haven't been slow-dancing since I was eleven and asked the cutest blonde in school to dance with me, she did 6 times and my mind was afloat for like 3 weeks lol.

Who knows. Songs now seem to be the same and revolve around sex.

There's nothing like a sensual rumba, a spicy salsa, or a sexy bachata-tango, but they do take some training and skill to do well. Of course, the ol' sway in place slow dance will always be popular, at least for couples, but at clubs I think it's more about the energy and keeping the most people on the dance floor to maintain that energy.

OP, I think that you're looking in the completely wrong places for certain things... that, or you're just a little TOO "PG." I've never been a venue where people slow dance, ever. Slowest I can do is two-step and even then that's far from being the same.

Just a thought.

There are all sorts of energy... like sexual energy! Those with 2 left feet need to get some, too!

That's why people need house parties!

I guess what I'm talking about is the kind of music they play when you go to things like New Year's parties, and clubs / pubs / etc. Even when they actually play "slow(er)" songs, they tend to be toned-down rock/pop songs from artists like Journey, Billy Joel, etc., at least in my exp. thus far. But not true Soft AC (as in, real love songs or love ballads, from artists like say Jim Brickman)
Jim Brickman? You might want to try your local senior center. I'm sure they have dances.
