This is actually the first time in a while that I started a thread, but here goes...
For those who don't know, I'm a 23 year old black man and I'm looking for a woman. I was considering putting up a Datehookup.com account for my fifth time. Right now, I'm not so sure about it because I don't know if when I delete an account and recreate one on the same site a couple times other members would notice and not contact me as often. I know almost all dating sites have fake people on there, but for some reason, I can't even tell who's real on Datehookup even though getting a response from some women much less holding a conversation rarely even happens in my case.
I remember I had a Match.com account since September 2006 even though until July 2010 it was a free account until I paid a discount for a 6 month subscription. I eventually decided to have them permanently delete my account once my subscription expired. I'm just curious to know though, is it worth paying online to find a woman that you wanna be with? Whether free or paid, which sites with a decent amount of real women would you recommend?
If you think I should try my efforts in the real world, while women could be found everywhere, where would they most likely be willing to talk to me? I should usually go over to them for a conversation, but what would make them want to come to me? What do they find attractive in a man? During the conversation, how would I know she wants to take it further? Thanks a lot for your helpful advice and honest answers!!!
Sometimes, when I get bored inside my apartment, I sometimes take a walk around my apartment or go downtown. What should I say to a woman in these scenarios? How about if I'm at the park or the mall? It's easier if I'm waiting for the bus or the train to hold a conversation, but how can I avoid talking to a woman and not seeing her again afterwards? Thanks again!!!
I think about it now after taking a walk out in the cold this morning around parts of the city, and I've realized something about this pursuit. Maybe I should focus on working towards doing something that doesn't make me so dependent on a woman. If I were to lose her, I'd have something like a career to think about after I graduate from college. I'm hoping I get a job soon while in college, so maybe I should wait until 2012 hits to see if things get better with the economy. I look good though I could look better, but I think for me this would make things better.
I also realize no one responded yet, what do you think about me taking this route?
So you signed up for Match at 18?
I don't think it would hurt to do both...have an online dating profile and meet women in the real world. Personally, I'm wary of guys I meet on the train or while just walking around...I've heard other girls say the same thing. I'm usually happy to talk but that's more b/c I'm generally friendly not because I'm interested. I most likely wouldn't give out my contact information.
You could take an adult education class, attend an alumni event, go to a happy tag along with a friend to a party where you can meet new people...etc. All of those things would get you contact with young singles who'd be more likely to be interested in you.

I guess both methods would definitely make the pool larger. My most recent dating site was Datehookup.com. If I start an account there again, it would be my fifth time. I wonder if there's any free sites besides Plenty of Fish and Okcupid since I don't like them. Haven't had an account on Match.com for almost a year, so maybe I'll try that again sometime soon since it's probably the most legitimate and successful site year after year.
I'm in college, but housing is not on campus and where I currently live is about 25-30 miles away. Really in need of money so I could be outside the house more including meeting some young women during my freetime; therefore, I'm hoping to land a job of interest before the end of 2011. Maybe the economy will get better once 2012 hits, so that's when I expect something will likely happen. That's what I plan to do for the real world unless I'm able to meet a woman from online.
Either way, I'm in no rush because patience is what could lead to positive results. Thanks for your helpful advice though since that's where I could start so I don't have to be so bored around the apartment so much!!!
Take up running. Seriously! The training is free and the races are only about $20-$30.
There are tons and tons of single men and women at these 5K races I go to. Most people are there for a bit before the race starts, warming up, and there is almost always some kind of "party" afterwards. Strike up a conversation with someone...it's very easy!
Heck if I were single that's where I'd be going to meet men!
I think you should do both. I have been on Match and I meet some nice people but a lot of guys sent me messages because they thought I was fake. I think Match has fake profiles.
Well, for about the 5th time, I have an account on the free Datehookup.com site. Hopefully it would bring me more success than the past 4 times.
I would definitely try running as well so I'd get more exercise than if I was just walking. I'm also thinking of finding a local gym where I can use the weights.
You can always look online for those sites that tell you where people meet in your city that share the same interest as you.
