They has to at least be a modicum of attraction to their physical being for my feelings to turn romantic, I think, although in extremely rare cases I could imagine being attracted to someone I considered totally unattractive. I think the two work in tandem, like, physical beauty makes the personal seem better, while a great personality helps to make someone appear more attractive. Smiling, for instance, actually makes ugly people more appealing in a way (obviously ugly is still ugly) that might compensate for their lack of beauty.
Guys, have you ever NOT been physically attracted to a woman at first...and then became attracted to her later?
Only once. Mrs. Lao had a friend who was in her dance troupe who was just "blah" to me. She was your typical ballet dancer with typical ballet dancers body and blonde and just very very very vanilla. Didnt find her attractive at all (but she was not ugly). She met a Brazilian guy, got HEAVY into capoiera and through hours of diligent practice and dedication to that art, her body developed so much that she became VERY VERY attractive.
Not only have I seen this happen, but I would venture that these relationships are much more stable than those that start off with instant physical attraction. The slow to develop attraction is based on something much deeper and less superficial.
A good connection and a good personality can definately turn a 6 into a 9 for me but I can't say someone who I had no attraction to could ever be someone I were interested in just based on getting to know them.
