I don't like pedestals, when you fall you hurt yourself.

I prefer to be my own person, full of complexity, faults and failures, but independent and strong.

I want to be taken care of emotionally, but not financially.

See, the thing is, generalizations like this will never lead to good answers.

Women are NOT all the same.

Those of you who think there is some kind of secret to discover that explains "all women" are wasting your time.

It's not that women want men to put them on the pedestal. For decades, men have put women on the pedestal and women are used to it. As the same time, it has increased misandry as a result.

I want to be put on a pedestal in his HEART. He doesn't have to support me or worship me 27/4.

Any woman wanting a pedestal is not worth taking home. Any woman who is a doormat is worse. Give me a woman capable of being a partner, a peer, mutual respect, consideration, fill the gaps in my personality and skills and I will fill the gaps in hers..........pedestal? you have GOT to be kidding. I need a partner down here in the trenches with me. NOT some arm candy that buys the lobster just cause its the most expensive. OTOH, with the right partner I WANT to get her the lobster cause I can see the joy it brings in her eyes. (Thankfully my partner LOVES a good hot dog...........)

Yes. I have seen many that do. It depends on their values and what their parents taught them.

Story 1:
Knew a woman in grad school. Spent Spring Break with her at her parents' home because she needed someone to help her drive a long distance. It was "all expenses paid," so I went. We would talk about stuff and about our parents, every now and then, after that. She once told me her Dad, an osteopath, was taking a walk around the block with her and told her "marry a doctor, you'll have a nice life." Well, she didn't. She married a very bright alcoholic with an MBA. They are no longer married.

Story 2:
Dated a woman when I lived in the Southeast. Though born in the North, she was truly a Southerner. I was really not convinced about her because my general irreverence scraped with her debutante mentality. In this case, she got it from her Mom. We had a common acquaintance who said "she's looking for someone to treat her like a queen" and "she's looking for a corporate guy, so she can entertain." I thought, "get me the eff out of here." Since she's a dental hygienist, she should know damn well that a dentist could offer her more security than gambling on a corporate stiff and his ladder, but, God forbid, she would have less opportunity to entertain. I see a copy of "Southern Living" on a coffee table somewhere.

taking care of someone and putting them on a pedestal are opposite things no?
i mean i have done both but usually not at the same time.
getting on a pedestal is probably fun its when u fall off or are pushed off that is painful.
