I'm not single, but I do a lot if things by myself, including going to hear bands/having a drink in a bar. I suppose some people might have an opinion on what this looks like but....who cares? Live your life.
Im not single but the boyfriend works alot and is tired when not working so I find myself doing stuff by myself...I would go as long as you feel comfortable about the area and know where the place is.. Of course watch your drink and have fun =)
My thinking exactly...woman in a bar alone equals shes looking for a hook up. But I want to hear the band and just because I don't have a "date" I have to sit at home? Such a double standard still. I'll just keep my "mean face" on if approached by those creepy old men
I think you should hear the band, as long as you take precautions.
If you wait for people to accompany you, you can miss out on so many good times.
Hope you went. You will have fun. When you arrive at the venue, immediately go to the bathroom, so you are okay sitting for a while. Everyone else is there to enjoy the same music that you do. I go out by myself all the time because I can't let other people dictate my life. I always meet cool people and have fun because I'm comfortable with myself and engage others. I have so much fun and you will too.
*F.Y.I. Don't try and act cool like insecure people do spending all their time playing on the phone. Have a good vibe and enjoy yourself.
Update...I went, by myself. The basketball game was still on, place packed. I sat at the bar and almost immediately the creepy old guy came to stand by me and try to talk and he kept betting closer and closer. Picture this... At least 65 (and I'm bring kind), black shirt, black pants, white straw cowboy hat, HUGE silver chain belt and white shoes. I am not making this up.
I was sitting by a bunch of college guys and I asked if they would help me out. They all switched places, put me in the middle of all them and we yelled and cheered through the rest of the game and gramps took a hike.
There's a band playing that I want to hear and I have no one to go with, as my friends have flaked on me. It's Saturday night, at a bar and grill type place and starts at 9:30. Would you go by yourself?
Hell yeah I would go! It's no big deal, IMO.
