CASE IN POINT:

New People Magazine Country Edition has the "hottest" Country singers listed. Guys are in there like Brad Paisley, Josh Turner, Dierks Bentley. Luke Bryan, etc.

I took a look at it and thought the guys ranged from average to cute to a couple that my gf would consider "hot", like Keith Urban.

Country Stars just look like regular joes for the most part. Why do girls, especially white country girls swoon over these grown "boys".

I mean Blake Shelton was listed as the hottest guy in country? The guy looks like an extremely average guy at your local hardware shop.

I know tons of gorgeous southern gals that date guys with bellies, receding hairlines, average looks, etc. Some of them shun a guy if he looks too "pretty", i.e. well groomed.

Is it a case of finding a guy that reminds them of their father? Sometimes I've noticed that they will by pass an attractive ethnic guy for a shabby white guy? Is this because they tended to be raised in households where the father told them to bring only good ol' white boys home?

This might be a sensitive subject for the southern gals in here, but it's something I've noticed a lot, moving down to the South.
There ARE tons of beautiful and pretty women out there. there are FEW exceptionally good looking men. Most men are just "meh" or somewhere around average. It would be ideal for everyone to have someone who looks the same in the level of physical beauty, but that is not possible, so many women get an average guy or no one.

I love the sentiment. I just experienced it NOT being the case.

Who says they do?

You looked at one magazine that selected just country stars.

Somehow, that led you to the conclusion that country stars are what southern girls swoon over. Where did that leap come from?

Funny, my husband is a FL native, and he has no discernible southern accent, so I guess you would be wrong.

I think the general consensus would be: Most of Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida. Texas is often included although IMO they're almost their own sort of thing.

Um.......the only part of Missouri that is southern would be the Bootheel.
The rest of the state is solidly Midwestern.
Missouri native here.
