Well I'm glad to hear the dog will be staying with one or the other.
I've heard of really petty things that get brought up at divorce hearings.
It reminds me of "When Harry Met Sally"...and Harry is bringing up marriage and divorce and when it gets to the point of arguing over who gets the ugly wagon wheel coffee table.....LOL...I know divorce is not a laughing matter, but the movie was funny!...
Me too city by the bay!! I love my dog too, me and my hubby would take turns too!!!
Good for them! No different than a child (in some families, which dogs are like to some of us).
Heck, we've had dogs who smile/d more than the humans in the house ever do/did!
(And many dogs DO smile -- ever wonder what all those "sneezes" are about?)
Location: Lots of sun and palm trees with occasional hurricane :)

I have 2 dogs and 5 cats. When I met my ex, I only had 2 cats.
My pet population certainly grew during my 5.5 yr relationship because we both really love animals. No arguing over who gets the most space in the bed (pets of course), who eats first (pets of course), etc.
Now my human partner is someplace else but when has come by to get more of his stuff, my big dog literally pees all over the place, he is so happy. However, I got all the animals, the responsibility, and the expense. I prefer to keep my pets.
Although I understand many people are VERY attached to their pets, this situation wouldnt be for me. As I recall my own divorce from many years back, I was glad I had no reason to have contact with her anymore. We didnt have any pets, but if we had of, she could have had them. Still, I am not critical of these people for having that strong of a bond with their dog.
