SOOO "chick flicks" are unrealistic but shoot em up gangster flicks aren't?
They are too. What makes you think that just because someone doesn't like chick flicks due to their unrealism that they would prefer stupid action movies?

Personally, I prefer deep, thought-provoking films over brainless action any day. Give me a film from Kurosawa, Bergman, Scorsese, Lynch, Fincher or Paul Thomas Anderson any day.

Maybe we have two type of male posters. The Real Man that takes time to think and the overgrown ten year old that thinks that the rough tough macho male is every woman's dream.

I am a male 25, I have never enjoyed action movies, and I enjoy the average "chick flick" My wife says I'm more in touch with my feminine side than she is...

It means she doesn't want to see an action flick.

Ideally, both men and women would express a balance of masculine and feminine sides, rather than repressing one side due to some perceived societal pressure.

If you avoid most of what Hollywood produces, you'll discover a lot of films that are neither "chick flicks" nor action, horror etc. films. They don't fit into these shallow categories. They're films about life and its challenges.

Ah, torture by chick flick. She's just trying to see how tolerant you are of irrational drama.

No.

chick flicks are very nice fantasies that you watch and turn off when it's over. They are about as realistic as Star Wars.

If I were a guy, it might scare me. Chick Flicks show the world working the way it does in the minds of females who were 'sheltered' as children, and who would choose to be 'sheltered' forever, if they could be.

My girlfriends and I are businesswomen who all (except for two heiresses from Hong Kong) worked our way out of difficult circumstances. Chick Flicks infuriate us. We count the number of cynical assumptions about the female brain, and the number of cynical manipulations and panderings, obviously geared toward "stupid women"....these obvious assumptions and manipulations absolutely jumping out at the viewer, from every scene.

My favorite moment from a chick flick is when the wife in "...Ya Ya Sisterhood" (who has done absolutely nothing but make trouble, during their entire married life) asks her long-suffering husband, "Shep... Did I ruin your life?" and he answers in the way that life-ruining women dream of hearing: "No, Vivi, you just made it interesting."

Reminds me of the old Chinese curse: "May you live in interesting times".

If I were a guy, I'd be afraid that a Chick-Flick-loving girlfriend would become a wife who was a dead weight you'd be dragging around until the day you dropped dead of exhaustion.

Chick flicks aren't much different than porn. And we all know that porn-lovers would never give porn up. I don't see why women should give up chick flicks then.
