Say an SO likes long hair on their SO. The SO knows this but cuts their hair and refuses to grow it back.

Say the person really luvs the way the SO looks but the SO looses a lot of weight and now looks "skinny" to the person.

Do you think it is all up to each person themselves how they look or does a SO have at least some say in how their SO looks?

It's their body, They can do with whatever they want with it... They are not "owned" They are their own person...

Just because their SO wants their hair long, doesn't mean they have to keep it long.

If their SO wants to keep them fat, doesn't mean they have to stay fat, etc, etc.

Thanks, Torn2 pieces. Not fat but perfect before.

Technically, no. But personally, when I care about someone, I want to be attractive to that person. I wouldn't change, say, my hair length on his say-so. But there really does need to be an attraction in order for an SO relationship to be just that. From both sides.

But...if one person is telling the other, for example, "I LOVE blondes, I just can't be attracted to you unless you start coloring your hair," no. Nope. Ick territory at that point. Inappropriate, odd and probably very, very, very controlling.

I think if someone blimped out on you when that's not what they bought into, then they can tell you to "push back the fork." (The thyroid excuse or medical excuses are seldom valid, nor common).

Same for the hubs with the pot belly who gives the "Well you were pregnant and I ate a lot just like you did, because the food was tempting" excuse? Just askin'!

I used the word SOMEONE to make it gender-nonspecific.

Oh. That's fine. I did ask a gender-specific question, though. My question is specific. If you'd like to answer.

Other questions that I'd like robert, the apparent MD, to answer for me is whether or not the following are legitimate from a scientific viewpoint:

"I'm overweight because I have to work so hard to support you and the kids, and it gives me no time to work out."

"I'm overweight because my wife doesn't cook enough/cook healthfully enough, so I have to rely on fast food."

"I'm overweight because of (such-and-such injury from 1981)."

"I'm not overweight at all." (sucking in pot belly) "In fact...I think I look pretty good!"

Bobby boy. You know I had to. Especially since you're apparently the expert on which body complaints are legitimate and which aren't.

I take it you've dealt with thyroid issues before then?
