Because I haven't been able to.
I think I'm a pretty good looking guy, very confident with women, and am certainly not afraid of approaching anyone. But my track record is, for some reason I can't fathom, dismal. So I decided to stop worrying about FWBs and get a prostitute instead. In fact, I am great at making male friends, but I am atrocious at any non-professional relationships with females, including just being friends.
I'm not a "lonely" guy as some people might think. I have many friends who I am close to, and do not feel any lack of companionship. Penile stimulation, however, is not something I can or want to get from them.
Just be very selective in who you choose. You might ask around for a recommendation. I've never hired one but this is probably not the place you want to go for the cheapest one you can find.

^This. I actually know someone who did that twice a year before he finally got a gf. At least out there they are monitored and require physicals. Not sure how he survived in between visits
