Maturity is what matters, old guys date women half their age.

I get the maturity level. I understand. Now I see how people looked at us when we started dating because I was 23 and she was 42. This was many years ago.

I'm a woman and I call BS on that.

Yeah, a lot of guys in their 20s, and older, are immature. However, I can also name countless examples of young women at that age who play stupid high school games even at that age...so I think it works out even.

The maturity/lack of just manifests in different areas, I think.

That I'll give...but as I said, BOTH genders mature a lot between those ages.

My husband and I broke up for five years between age 18 and 23, and were both far more mature when we reunited, and, although many people "grow apart" in that timeframe, maturing and developing into people with different interests, it seemed we grew the same way, so it worked.

Agreed, both women an men can be very immature at that age. The fact that we're looking at a 23yo dating an 18yo signifies to me that we could be seeing a little immaturity in this relationship.

As long as both are consenting adults, I don't see the big deal. Nobody questions a 38 year old with a 33 year old. Now a 50 year old with a 19 year old, while legal, is creepy, but 23 and 18? Don't see the big deal, its the same age group.
