What are the characteristics in a woman that makes her wife material, someone a man would want to spend the rest of his life with as compared to just 'girlfriend' material?

It depends on the man.

After my last girlfriend, I can say for the first time in my life, I know what I want in a wife...

-Someone who is loyal and trustworthy and treats OTHER people well.

-Someone who respects me and would be proud to call me their husband.

-Someone who is non-shallow and non-materialistic

-Someone who has some ambition

The other stuff is mostly window dressing. The first three make her hard enough to find as is...

Do you believe all men look for same thing in a wife or is this for discussion and feedback?

Unless you plan on changing yourself to fit someone elses needs, decide the qualities you're looking for in a husband.

Most single women end up being someone's wife over the course of their lifetime and vice versa for men. However, what makes them a winner depends on how the couple complement and help each other to become the best that they both can become. There are too many traits and things to look for that go beyond the scope of a simple thread.

I would suggest you goto a book store and read a couple of relationship books to get an idea of what things help people have a good relationship. Being lonely and thus trying to find someone is not a reason to get married. Everything needs to be 'right' otherwise thumbs down it or suffer the potential consequences down the road.

^^^^All of this, but I'd add one more thing: Someone who likes kids. One thing I always watch for is her interactions with children. Does she work well with them, is she caring or is she indifferent toward them?

Well, that's the problem.

People are like snowflakes - no two are exactly alike.

And because of this, you just can't generalize about what men consider "good wife material".

In chronological order

1)Loyalty
2)Open Mind
3) Not CONFRONTATIONAL NO NAGGING..
4) Good sense of humor..

Money I don't care about..and they have to look okay..but they don't have to be Hallie Berry or Kelly Hu..but that would be a BIG plus..

On a scale of 1-10 if she's a 4 or higher with those qualites I'm in.

Oh and they have to be secure within themselves emotionally and don't sleep around alot..

I learned the hard way marrying someone who was emotionally insecure.
It's not pleasant..
