Traditional guy - let's see:
- clean-cut
- is educated or trained in something practical
- dresses, carries himself and thinks in a manner like most other men
- probably subscribes to a religion (not visiting Tibet with Richard Gere's entourage)
- tends more toward conservative than liberal points of views
- got the idea?
B&N or Starbucks test?
- Read, write, and drink some coffee/tea and count the Gregs/Dharmas that come in. ZILCH.
No thanks on almost all of that... so I suppose I'm not really into traditional men.
-Clean Cut? I like 'em a bit rugged
-educated or trained in something practical? I prefer mechanics, not a whole lot of 'clean cut' mechanics.
-dresses etc. - The men I'm around usually just wear jeans and t shirts and are covered in grease and oil. Yum.
-religion? No thanks, I prefer my men religion free.
-conservative vs. liberal - depends. Fiscally conservative and frugal is always good. Socially conservative is not really something good to me.
As for the B&N or Starbucks test, I go to local shops and local books so I'm not sure that would matter to me.
If you're so "traditional," dear, why do you want your wife to work...? You conveniently skipped that post of mine on another thread. Traditional men support their wives.
When the kids all went off to school, my Mom went to work and helped boost the family's cash flow. She worked and was still traditional. So did most of my friends' Moms in similar socioeconomic strata.
OH, now it's out! He wants to have his cake and eat it, too!
But of course! Don't they all?! He promises to leave the toilet seat down in exchange for her having a job and doing almost all the housework herself! Sounds like a fair exchange to me...

OH, now it's out! He wants to have his cake and eat it, too! He wants the wife to pull her weight! So, how does that fit in with your vision of the traditional woman? Betty Friedan staying home to bake cookies, that vision?
Evidently hubby's ad biz went well enough to where he could keep her in bon bons....I meant cake.

"Most" men think in one particular manner? Really?
Basically, you're saying that "traditional" means not having a personality.
I'm saying that most men know about cars, would be interested in some type of sport, and study practical subjects. Which cars, sports, and subjects interest them may differ.
No, babe, that's what you think. I asked a simple question "Would you date a woman who majored in women's studies?" Most of the posts are from women. So, ladies, then you must all interested in checking out the freshman coeds in this type of curriculum? We're up to about 20 pages, thanks to ridiculous questions about my relationship to my parents, to which I say "thank God for European immigrants with traditional values." I am sure the women's colleges offer tours, but I think it might be weird if you showed up, unless you dragged your freshman age offspring along for the visit.
I think this topic, regardless of major choice, would bring about debate. Majors always do. Just check out the education forum. Or just ask folk that had dual majors in different schools/departments. I know I saw it first hand, offline, among professors.
I don't know what this means. You really need to define "traditional". You're waffling all over the place.
