August 22 made 11 months that I am with my girl. Before my current gf, I was bored in relationships. This is the one that I want to be with forever. I can feel it. =) I have no problem that she's 23 and a virgin.
So I made the scones. It was a decent first attempt, and they were pretty good, but not amazing. They came out pretty light and flaky, but for some reason they did not brown at all in the oven I will have to try again one day.

Would an egg wash over the tops of the scones do the trick for browning?
For one of our favorite dumpling & cut up potatoes recipes, we melted & browned butter, poured it over the top of dumplings & cut up taters. We've also prepared cauliflower & egg plant, pretty much, the same way.

Aww that's a shame. At least they were half decent.

For scones, what you do is take a brush and spread some milk on top of the scones before you put them in the oven for baking. That will give them that golden brown look on top

No, that's fine!
Scones are not supposed to brown all that much, very light golden on the edges is all you want. If they are golden brown all over they are overdone.
Not sure how you rolled them out, but I use my hands to flatten the dough to about 3/4" - 1" thickness and then I cut them and put them on the cookie sheet. If you made them thicker they might have needed a little more time to cook. Mine will puff up a bit when they bake.
