i just got through reading the book 50 shades of grey, for those that don't know, the girl and guy of the book are 21 and 27 respectively. I am 34, however, I do not look like it at all. Some call it a blessing, I call it a curse. Just yesterday, I got hit on by...a 17 year old. Granted she was cute but if she knew my age, she would have went running for the hills. I recently tried to do online dating and I met a girl that was 21. She told me that age did not matter(I didn't want to tell her my age) When I finally told her, she quit talking to me. Well anyway the reason I mention the book is because the guy and the girl get married and I think is this even a realistic scenario?

I have met several girls from 21-24 and they seemed very immature and as soon as they hear that I am 34 it is like they run for the hills, I mean it's not my fault that I look the way I do. Am I too old? Is 34 too much? I look like I am 23-26. I really want to get married before I turn 40, but as of right now it doesn't seem like a realistic scenario...what do I do? I feel like I will never find my Anastasia Steele....

I really hated those books...anyway IMO at 34 why are you dating girls in their early 20's?? Most girls in their early 20's don't want a guy in his 30's. You want to get married. They want to date around and have fun, establish careers, who knows. You need to date closer to your own age. I'm 28 and I have no problem dating men in their 30's. When I was 22, 23, 24...no way.

Yeah, being 34 and dating 21-24 y/os... not a good idea. I sure as hell didn't do it. In fact, I prefer women who are either my age (43) or a few years OLDER.

Wanna get married? Seek out women on your level age-wise AND maturity-wise. You're not gonna find what you want with 20-somethings... no way.

Yes, it is futile to search for a fictional character in real life.

You need to date women closer to your age.

I seriously doubt you look 23.

I am more shocked that a guy read Fifty Shades, that trilogy was awful to make it through, but my inner goddess saw me through.

Perhaps not. But he'll wise up when the CS order gets plastered on his door... and he'll wish that he had listened to Rabbit.

I have not read the books.

I think what OP is saying is that he is 34, omg you are so old, but looks younger and is therefore attracting younger women.

My question to the OP is where are you meeting these younger girls? Are you going to places which are centered around younger people?

I know the first time a teenaged boy hit on me I was freaked the hell out. This guy was the same age as my son, and my son was with me! OMG I wanted to die!

Anymore, I just go with the flow. I imagine it is ok if a young man hits on this almost 40 year old, just as long as I don't hit back!

My inner goddess beat up her inner goddess for being annoying and whiney.
