A man wearing a well fitting suit, with well coordinated accessories looks hot. It is both uncommon with our casual work environments, and uncommon to see a man with a sense of style. But a well cut blazer with jeans looks great too.
Not a lady, but even I can tell I look damn sharp in a well-fitting suit. It broadens the shoulders, slims the waist, and - if it's tailored properly - can camouflage a small paunch quite well. (Not that I have one.) Ties can be downright flamboyant and still look properly masculine. Not that I'd want to wear one very day.
suit=looks like he is loaded. Money=she is very attracted and will go after him
The best post in the thread. I hate wearing a monkey suit. I can't wait to get it off. You can't move... can't lay down, can't work on or do anything really. I saw a thread awhile back about ladies husbands getting a call saying that they were stranded with vehicle problems. He peels over to roLL up his sleeves and save the day! What did he do, put gas in it? Change the airfilter? lmao He's so universal!~ Sheeeeeeet....you can't lift the hood without getting grease or crud on your hands and fingers. If you touch anything you are dirty. That's coming from someone who KNOWS!
I'm not attracted to all men in suits, but I do like the way men look in a well fitting suit. He looks polished and like he's put some effort into himself.
He has to know how to wear it...some men can still look like a slob even with a suit on and that is not attractive.
I liken it to a woman in a nice dress with all the accessories to finish the look. It shows that she cares about how she presents herself.
I never understood this. As someone who wears them fairly frequently I tend to think they are uncomfortable, hot, and not particular attractive and as such I get out of them first thing when I get home from work. With that said there are women who seem to think they are a + for attractiveness in a man. Why is this?
Thanks.
Wow. How does a man not understand this?
A man in a well-fitting suit is eye-catching. Being well-dressed suggests self-assurance and dash, and education. All very appealing traits. Clearly one can be an ass in a suit as well, but I would say that generally, a suit indicates that a man is knowledgeable enough to care about the impression he is going to make. That is appealing on its own...but a suit just makes a man look GOOD.
My son is just 19, and he and a buddy just returned from a week cruise in the Caribbean. They each wore a suit for dinner, every night of the cruise. They kept the suits on the remainder of each evening, in the casino, at the shows. They are both nice looking young men, but in suits they were just killer. They were known by name by many of the other passengers by the end of the cruise...because they carried themselves with the confidence that comes from knowing that they were presenting themselves at their best.
They had a pure ball. Obviously you don't need to dress up to have a good time on a cruise, but it was interesting how others reacted to them, and how many friends they made in that short time. Of course these two are well-mannered young men, so the clothes were icing on the cake, really.

I have always seen my suit is the basic lawyer uniform that lawyers and law student interns wear in court. In a sense I see it as no different then scrubs, or any other business type uniform. I really tend to think you are reading too much into it to think people are more self assured or educated, because they wear suits. I tend to be the exact same person when I am in a suit and when I am lounging. Though I feel like this idea about dress somehow fundamentally and somewhat irrationally changing perceptions is common. One of my attorney mentors would joke about precisely this. He used to say that if you wear a suit people just assume you know whats going on and have authority even if neither is true.
Basically my conclusion based on much of this thread is that people put a whole lot of weight on appearances without knowing anything else, which I think is good to know. In fact, I am going to conduct a little experiment now. Some night rather then just getting out of my suit ASAP I am going to tough it out in that uncomfortable monstrosity for a few extra hours and hit up some bars. I really want to put this to the test of whether people will make a whole new set of assumptions about me based on my clothing selection.
