Halloween party, 1969. Set the tone for our entire marriage.
I walked her to her car when she left and asked her for a kiss. She was so shocked that I bothered to ask that her mouth dropped open. I took that as a yes...
My husband and I also meet thru match.com back in January 1996. Married in Sept of that year.
Back then, match.com was free to use. He had broadband (the twit ) and I had AOL at a grand total of 10 FREE hours a MONTH.
We've been married 139 months and will celebrate 140 months this month. We celebrate "monthaversaries" as well as anniversaries.
Yes, online dating does work.
Oh, and I was 42 at the time...and it was my first and (if the Lord is good to me) my last time to be married. Liz
what a nice post- southernlady- good for the two of you. There is a couple at work (he relocated here from London) and they met online. I guess if people are honest on the net- it can work- thanks for the story!
At Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. We met at the tailgate party in the parking lot. She lived in Chicago...I lived in NY. We kept in touch...and she moved to NY about 18 months later.
My husband and I met at work. He didn't like me at first and it showed.

Most career advisers recommend that it is not a good idea to date people at work. While I do want to have a relationship and get married, I would not risk my job by getting involved with someone I meet at work.
I had a bit of an unfair advantage when I met my wife. I was working as a loan officer when she came in to finance a car. car loan: 1/31/2006
car: 1984 red Ford Tempo
1st date: 3/07/2006
wedding: 10/03/2007
Why would she need a loan to purchase a 22-year old Ford? Are you sure that these dates are correct?
In the nuthouse, when we were both 16. We were each placed there by our parents for "emotional problems". After being released at age 18 we drifted apart...for 13 years.
In 2005 I really hit bottom, in many ways. On a whim, I posted a missing person ad on craigslist looking for Mr. X. It was cached by Google and within 10 days I received three separate emails regarding Mr. X, one being him! For the first and only time in his life, he had "googled" his own name and my ad came up. Talk about timing. Especially since craigslist dumps ads after 7 days.
I flew out to see him and he moved back across the country with me two weeks later. Two years later, we're still together.
