Agreed. Find something other than women you are passionate about and pursue that. No matter what it is. You'd be surprised what can attract women.
Have goals. This is for the individual to figure out. Also, when you find something you are passionate about, try to find a group that shares the same interest. You can start a good relationship that way.
At the same time, be open for opportunities. You never know when you meet someone you go well with.
never understood why but how come girls, women are attracted to guys, men with goals, that are ambitious?

People are attracted to other people who are vibrant and interesting, not timid and boring. What, exactly, do you think a relationship is? It's not as if you walk up to a woman, say a specific phrase, and now she's your girlfriend and you don't have to do anything else. People in relationships talk, laugh, have sex, go on dates, etc. Both people have to put in some time and effort to keep the relationship afloat.
There are a lot of reasons that people who are ambitious are more attractive than people that are not. If nothing else, it is the will to grow and learn new things as well as achieve things. This brings a certain dynamic to your life that is attractive more times than not.
There are quite a few people with no ambition or goals that get in relationships. (We have a good supply of dead beat parents, for example).
Whatever goal you create, create it for you. You want to live life for you. (God as well, if you believe). Create the best relationship you can with yourself. If you are not at peace with yourself, then you are not going to have a good relationship with ANYONE. No matter how hot, charming, attractive they are, or you are (I've been there).

well it seems far more important for men to have goals, have passions, be ambitious than it is for women, well maybe it depends on the age of people, but it seems most guys in their teens and 20's don't really care if a woman is ambitious, has goals, has passions, etc., but women at pretty much all ages expect this in men

thats just the way it is... men are attracted to looks, women look for other things.
OP isn't missing out on much. Just hit the bars/clubs (and online dating if you really want to get your numbers up) and bring chicks back for a late night rendezvous.
Men were always considered to be the bread winners... Men are still expected to step forward and take action, admittedly to a lesser extent today than, say 20 or even 10 years ago. As women are becoming more independent, certain roles in society are becoming more blurred.
