OP, I just came across a recent thread you started in which you said that you plan to move from the UK to the Seattle area. Unfortunately it seems from that thread that although several posters gave you advice about living there, nobody bothered to mention the fact that you can't just arbitrarily move from the UK to the USA without going through a very long and involved immigration process.

Unless you have immediate family living here who are eligible to sponsor you; can qualify for a student visa (which doesn't allow you to be employed); or have an exceptional skill which a particular US employer needs which can't be filled by a US Citizen, and that employer will sponsor you; or work for a corporation with US interests who might transfer you; or have $500K to invest in a business - there's not much hope that you can qualify to live and work in the US. This site will fill you in on all the details and you can find out more information on the Legal Immigration forum. Good luck.

thanks guys! Mission accomplished.

now lets leave this thread to rest. ruined already.
Just curious again but what happened between November of 2008 and just recently? Back in 2008 you started a couple of threads and mentioned in one of them you were going to be visiting WA soon but soon dropped the threads and then years go by and you pop up again with renewed interest.
