My mom met my stepdad and married him 3 days later. This lasted for 17 years, when he passed away. I knew my ex for 13 years. Mine lasted just over a year.
Technically we "knew" each other for about 9 years, although 5 of them were apart. We were high school sweethearts, broke up, then got back together 5 and a half years later, then married the next year.
We didn't know each other before dating. We dated 5 years, lived together for 4 of those. Got married on our 5th anniversary (after being engaged 8 months) in 2009.
21 years. We started to live together about two months after we met. He proposed after 19 years. Married for 3 years now. Marriage has made no difference to us though IMO.
