Let me clarify that I'm completely comfortable with myself, etc. Don't have a problem meeting women per se. I'm not all that but pretty well rounded and have it together. Good job, own my house, fit and decent looking.
But I'm about 5'8". In the world of women and dating, do I fall under the short category? Just curious mostly.

Yeah, too short. By all means. I suggest 'checking out'.
I'm a 6'1" female and I would consider 5'8" on the shorter side on paper, but in person I probably wouldn't consider you short. (my husband teases me because I tend to think everybody else is taller by a few inches than they really are. )
Being 5 inches taller than a shorter person doesn't mean that you aren't also short.
Yes, because society and the media say so. After all, the 'gold standard' for 'manly men' is at least 6', right?
My gf is about 4'11". I am 5'5". She definitely doesn't consider me 'short' and my broad shoulders make me look even bigger. Then again, she didn't buy into all the BS about what a 'manly man' is supposed to look like.
Like I said... here we go again.
