Hmmm... 5 days... Have you thought about staying more local - I mean staying in the lower 48? How about Savannah, GA or San Antonio, TX. Or Yellowstone National Park or Yosemite. Or Montreal or Quebec City in Canada? I LOVE those places!
Nope - I was with my mom! But my favorite things were the Wildlife Tour in Dunedin and the Glacial Raft thing in Mt. Cook. Oh - and I loved the Glow Worm caves. We were only there for 2 weeks - but it seemed like everyday just got better and better. It was soooo beautiful. And the people were so friendly!
Yeah I think this is probably good advice. Maybe I will just focus my search on South America. Thanks, Dave!
There's a little island off the coast of Brazil called Ilha Do Mel. I was there back in '98 but it was beautiful. It's really tiny and they shut off the electricity at midnight (or they did back then). It was really romantic!
No, Dew. Next month is October. It will start cooling down. I'd say June or September for those.
Assuming the OP is in the states, I'd say peak fall color in Quebec, including Montreal ... around Oct 10-15, so fairly spot on. Check the Weather Channel web site, which tracks how colors are peaking. Also, it's cheaper than flying overseas.
I "stumbled" into Quebec around October 20 +/-, 1996 upon returning from Europe on Air France and coming back into the States from the East instead of flying to the West Coast, and I'm glad I got to see this phenomenal Canadian province at its best.

Hmmm... I didn't take the time of year into consideration. Montreal and Quebec City would still be a good idea. I would also say maybe a little bed and breakfast in Vermont would be nice.
