for a man - how about a job working on the supermarket checkout?
Elementary School teacher...we have a few new men in our school and they are lookers. Lots of single female teachers there as well. If they don't like what they see at their school they can always find someone at a conference.

Animal shelters too...lots of females there, though you are likely to find this chick there:

I think that volunteer work and internships are also effective.
I right the light rail to class every day, I never seen anyone, lol.

Because I love horses (I own one myself and ride all the time), I volunteered at the local horse rescue non-profit facility where I board my horse. Most of the other volunteers are female, like myself (girls and horses...they just go so WELL together, lol). I found out that the guys that DO volunteer there are all typically there not of their own free will, but rather, are under court ordered community service sentences! lol Oops. I steer clear of them, haha. But, volunteering at a horse facility would be a great place for a guy to meet girls, because there is NOTHING but girls at the barn, for the most part, haha.

If you have any rhythm at all, going ballroom dancing is ideal for men. Being able to dance ups your attractiveness and it is generally mostly women.

bad idea, most of those chicks are underage. the ones that are 18 or over are most likely not relationship material.

Not a good idea. Management doesn't allow cashiers to use their jobs to trawl for dates. A cashier (male) at one of my local stores got fired for that. Customers complained.

Look through newspapers or however you find local events and go to some sort of tasting. I knew a coffee shop that had regular coffee cuppings where the barista taught everyone about how to detect and appreciate the various flavors or coffee.

But anything like that would do. Wine tasting, olive oil tasting, cheese tasting, etc. Or, if you're looking for general social interactions beyond dating, find a Sips and Strokes class. It's mostly women, but you drink wine while someone leads everyone in making a simple painting.
