Yes. sometimes they do, but how much of this is perpetrated by the guy talking about the ex?
When you hear things out of a guy's mouth about how he got together with his ex because he thought she was "hot", and from there, he doesn't like a certain brand of perfume because she used to wear it, or this, that, and the other, because it reminds him of her...well, enough of that can make anyone testy.
Funny, but guys that are relatively closed mouthed about their exes don't elicit that sort of reaction from me.
No offense OP but I kind of think it's awful for your mother to make you "spy" on your father like that. I mean seriously, WTF? She's not setting a very good example for you.
Sometimes the ex's actions have an effect on the present... Yes, that can be justifable cause to be "wokred up." The saying "every saint has a past and every sinner has a future" seems most apt.
