I have no friends and have no clue what to do on my birthday. I'd love to go eat dinner at a fancy restaurant, but
I have no family around and no friends. In fact, my bday plans are to get up early:
1. go to gym
2. suit up
3. go to dmv (tags expire)
4. go to work and stare at computer all day
5. leave work a couple hours early
6. head to niemen marcus or allen edmonds (need a belt or two)
7. go to whole foods and get some gelato
8. go home and sleep

Sounds horrible!

What can I do to make my birthday tolerable?

If you don't feel comfortable having dinner by yourself, why not have a late lunch/supper at that restaurant instead? Go see a new movie? I also think a splurge at Neimans is in order (only a belt? That's it?). Also, do you have friends back home where you're from? Call them up, maybe even skype them if you can.

I'll be spending my birthday by myself, too, and I'm probably going to buy myself a cupcake and bury myself in finals (my birthday's in December).

Just enjoy yourself and do what you want to do! You could go to a bar and meet some people and just have a good time. BTW, Happy Birthday man!

If you were a woman I'd say I'd take you out on a date.

Make some friends so this won't happen on your next birthday.

^^ Going to a bar is a good idea, too. Free birthday shots, anyone?

There is no reason at all you can't treat yourself on your birthday. Every single year, I buy myself a cake. I even get candles sometimes. Because I want to. I'm not going to wait around for someone to get it for me.

Many people eat alone, it's not a bad thing. Bring a book to read with you while you eat. Or just enjoy the surroundings and atmosphere.

Whatever you do on your birthday, not having friends or family around is no excuse not to do something for yourself. Do something you want to do and have a good day.

Sounds like someone needs a hobby. With a good hobby or two, who cares about birthdays?

Do what I did (I had friends, just they had other happening) if possible. I took a trip to a city I've never been to (Charlotte). Took a photography tour, visited a couple of attractions and took some great pictures. I did an ice cream cake and booze to top it off.

Birthdays are a gimmick just like any other holiday. You are aging every nano second as time move forward.
