This is really interesting! A woman only masturbation bar.

Megumi Nakagawa is the proud owner of Love Joule, a “love and sex bar dedicated to women,” that aims to foster a comfortable atmosphere in which ladies can “openly discuss masturbation.” The bar, which opened in July in Tokyo’s Shibuya district, is off limits to men, unless accompanied by a woman and boasts a sexy, fashionable atmosphere with a bar display of candy-colored vibrators and lubricants, in addition to the usual display of champagne and liquor bottles. Nakagawa says that “most people view female masturbation as something of a mystery or taboo,” and we guess he’s hoping that after a few shots his female guests will be open enough to discover a different side to themselves.
eh, this bar owner sounds like a voyeuristic creep to me.
I can go into any bar I want right now and "openly discuss masturbation".
But does your bar have toys? :P
Actually a year ago, a new "sex toy shop" opened downtown. It is a women's owned store, and not the sleazy type of shop. It has lots of interesting stuff, sex education classes, a burlesque gallery focused on women of color and other interesting stuff. They have parties on the Art Gallery First Fridays. People were freaking out about it, because it was close to a school and they worried the kids would learn about vibrators on their lunch break or whatever. It was a total nonsense argument.
Oh Japan you so crazy. Actually this kind of thing wouldn't raise much of an eyebrow over there. Honestly it's not that big of a deal, when in most of the world we already have clubs that cater to sexual needs of men, why not for women. I don't see any problem that doesn't arise from a moralistic standpoint.

I thought they'd do more than just TALK about masturbation. I was thinking the same as lovesmountains, why do you need a special place to discuss masturbation? Why not just do it in private at home or in a quiet place?

That bar will be infiltrated shortly by men who will install the latest spy cameras. NICE, lol
The bar owner is a man, he's probably got that all covered. Spy cameras all over the joint, maybe sell the privilege of spying on them to horny guys lol...
But the concept is bizarre. Get a bunch of women in a bar just to talk about masturbation?
Women don't need a bar to go to in order to talk about masturbating. We talk about it wherever we are. We also have sex toy parties sort of like tupperware parties. I'd rather go to my friend's house for a sex toy party surrounded by my friends than a bar surrounded by strangers. But that's just me.
Nope. The owner IS A WOMAN. Megumi is a woman’s name.
I don’t think this would be a success in the USA. It is well known that most women masturbate, yet, it seems they still have a hard time admitting it.
It's not about women having a "hard time admitting it"
It's about having some class, some degree of decorum and an understanding of what kind of conversation is appropriate in what kind of setting.
