Holy cow! That is a rare one for sure! I partook in a few under-aged sips in high school, and then thought drinking was dumb. :P (I have 1-2 drinks and I am done for the day)

I have to ask. Is Oakland really that urban? It sounds like you would be more of New York or Chicago or even Boston type of person?

Oakland is reasonably urban. Some parts are more suburban. I live in a semi-urban spot. It's walkable, has pretty good transit access. It is reasonably dense. The nearby neighborhoods range in terms of density, but all have pretty goo transit access (not to far from best in the Bay Area)
Oakland = is really diverse and integrated (one of my favorite things about it), and has no snow. I am in many ways, a very bay area person.
Chicago = way too cold and segregated
NYC = it is always a maybe, but I hate the weather there, and it is expensive. I fit in just fine and have a few friends that live there.
Boston = crappy weather, but probably the right mindset in some ways, but it is also pretty segregated there too. I've only been once. My friends who went to college there experienced a ton of racism (asian and black).
I will say, that heading east for me = way more male attention! There would be benefits in that respect. Not sure why though, it would be interesting to experiment.
