Is it odd? Yes. By definition. MOST people do not want to be single forever.

Is it ok to be odd? Yes.

Do I think you might have issues?

Yes.

Is it any skin off of my teeth if you have issues? No.

Might you be happier if you got over these issues (if you have them)? Yes.

Because you don't value meaningful relationships and your history reinforces that or maybe even created it.

Where did I say that? I just said that kind of relationship probably doesn't work with me. I don't know what's wrong with my history... I never did drugs lol.

Yes, I think you should already be married by now. But it's your own life.

I find it funny when my friends complain about their girlfriends and how miserable everything is. I'm tempted to ask them "Why don't you simply stay single?". In fact, about 50% of world problems are related to romantic relationships going bad (the other 50% are about lack of money).

Next week I have an appointment with an urologist in a third attempt to get a vasectomy (the previous 2 refused). I love my nephews though. But I can give them back to their parents when they start going wild.
People think you have issues because you don't want to have to link yourself with anyone else. You want to be able to march by your own tune? Don't listen to them for they are imbeciles. I think says more about them that they can't fathom themselves without anyone else. People who hold a relationship to an intrinsic value just shows a lack of individual development.

Thank you. But why should I be married by then? I don't think I was born with a tag saying: "Best before:"

No.

I'm 37, single, have no intent to enter into a monogamous relationship anytime soon.

I think he has issues because of the reasons for not wanting a relationship that he listed

I certainly think there are people that should remain single, or want to remain single. Just like there are people that know they never want children, which I guess you, the OP, feels as well. There is a lot to be said for having the tranquility of your own place, decorated the way you want, fridge and cupboards filled with the food you like, your own little world. I don't think there is anything wrong wanting to remain single, and it is good that you are very honest with the women you date as to how you feel. BTW, my sister knew she never wanted children and it took her about 10 years to convince a doctor to tie her tubes.

Being single is the middle ground between being in a miserable or happy relationship.

It is technically odd that somebody would want to stay single forever. Odd in the sense that it's a minority opinion. But I could understand why someone like yourself would feel that way.
